Sidney Prescott, now the author of a self-help book, returns home to Woodsboro on the last stop of her book tour. There she reconnects with Sheriff Dewey and Gale, who are now married, as well as her cousin Jill and her Aunt Kate. Unfortunately, Sidney's appearance also brings about the return of Ghostface, putting Sidney, Gale, and Dewey, along with Jill, her friends, and the whole town of Woodsboro in danger.
The last film in the series to be directed by Wes Craven, SCREAM 4’s problems are due in part by meddling from the studio executives, which led to many scenes being deleted and the overall pacing affected. Several of these scenes have been reinstated, along with an extended, unique opening sequence. Failed attempts at humor have been reduced and the controversial cinematography has been improved as much as the source allowed.
